these interactive, site-specific, and architectural installations are striking suggestions of form, space, and volume. these structures are not simply to be viewed as objects within an architectural space, but rather, should be experienced as extensions of existing architectural conditions. through their relation to the walls, floor, ceiling, and immediate atmosphere, these objects create subtle yet striking visual amusement for the viewer. their human-scale size ensures that viewers enter into them, and navigate both through and around them, exploring first-hand, spatial relationships, notions of positive versus negative, and implied or suggested volumes. their mere placement within a space leaves them incomplete, as they rely on willing participation and involvement by viewers. participants breach the suggested space or volume these objects both create and inhabit, bringing relevance to their own atmosphere and engaging these otherwise static structures. only with a viewer's presence within it, does the work become complete. the art is no longer the visible, but rather resides somewhere in the intangible. feelings of being within, being a part of, and being confined & excluded simultaneously are the true body of this project. The art itself becomes the ongoing conversation between object & viewer, body & eye, and positive & negative. viewers are no longer passive witness, but rather, become active & engaged participants.
